Water Systems Operator

South Adams County Water & Sanitation District is dedicated to providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable water resources and services to protect public health, the environment, and quality of life. We are seeking Water Operators committed to providing clean, safe drinking water to the public to join our growing team.  

 

This position operates and maintains all plant equipment, processes and facilities associated with the District’s potable system and non-potable irrigation system. Some key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

·        Ability to operate and understand: Ion Exchange, GAC, and Pellet Softening treatment technologies

·        Monitoring well pumping, drawdown levels, and flow rates

·        Adjusting chemical feeds

·        Setting appropriate flow and pressure controls on potable and dual irrigation systems

·        Performing routine checks to offsite stations

·        Responding to alarms and performing routine and emergency operations

·        Performing routine maintenance and facility upkeep

·        Performing general maintenance and troubleshooting on analyzers (examples including Cl17’s and pH probes)

·        Ability to operate remotely after hours

·        Willingness to pick up open shifts  

 

Qualified candidates are required to have: 

·        High School Diploma OR equivalent combination of education and experience

·        Valid, current Colorado Driver’s License

·        Solid mechanical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills

·        Effective time management and communication skills

·        Proficient computer skills including MS Products, Outlook and water treatment SCADA technology

·        Work collaboratively in providing the best level of water quality to the District residents

·        Colorado Water Treatment Operator Certification and Colorado Water Distribution Operator Certification are preferred

 

Must be able to respond to inquiries and emergencies, which may occur after hours, holidays and weekends, as well as participate in the on-call rotation. 

 

Must be able to lift 60 lbs occasionally and work in a variety of facilities, temperatures and weather conditions. 

 

Successful candidates will be required to complete a drug screen and background check prior to employment. 

 

The District offers a salary commensurate with qualifications and certificate level

  Salary Range Operator A up to $45

  Salary Range Operator B/C/D/Trainee $20.00-$41.00
